Meet The Team

Tim Sibley – SMC(Tech)

Tim is the owner, technician and resident sports eyewear expert.

“I started in optics over 30 years ago and became a fully qualified optical technician four years later. Having spent the last 12 years as the Production Director of a successful lab that provided Opticians with the end product, I decided I could use my knowledge and expertise to offer a more realistically priced place to buy glasses, so decided it was time to open my own opticians. I love skiing and cycling and am always on the lookout for the latest eyewear technology to assist me with my hobbies”

Andy Willcox – Optical Dispenser

Andy has been with us for over 7 years. As a proud father and motorcyclist, he understands a thing or two about robust glasses!

“I was with a major optician for four years but grew tired of the way I had to hurry from one person to the next. I always enjoy my time with the patients I see and decided to work for The Specs Factory after I bought my own glasses from here and was impressed by the service I received. While I like the fact that in my position I can save people money it all means nothing if you can’t find the look you’re after. I love that everyone is different and love to help you find the right glasses, as long as you don’t mind an honest opinion.”

Vikki Sibley – Optical Assistant

Vikki is, as you may have guessed, Tim’s sister. She loves designer labels and loves glasses that look a little different.

“I have always worked in retail, often in fashion, but fancied a change that still meant I could work with people. My opinion almost always differs from the guys when it comes to what looks nicest on people. I love personal service and really do aim to treat others as I want to be treated myself. I have infinite patience because I know how important it is to find the right look, as well as how difficult it can be.”

Orla Smith – BSc (Hons) MCOptom

Orla is our resident optometrist.

“I graduated from City University, London in 1985 when I also gained experience in the clinics at The London Refraction Hospital (now The Institute of Optometry). During my pre-registration year I spent some time working in the Optometry clinic at Moorfields Eye Hospital. I have lived locally for the past 20 years and am widely involved in the community. I prefer to take my time in each eye test and will only offer opinions on glasses that I genuinely believe in.”
